REAL Housewives of Durban star Zama Ngcobo says she's not the villain everyone thinks she is.

This is because she was trending on social media on Wednesday, 28 February, with people calling her the villain of the show.

In the most recent episode, people weren't happy about how she treated fellow cast members Ameigh Thompson and Angel Ndlela.

But the 40-year-old radio and TV presenter told Daily Sun that she's not as evil as people think she is.

"I'm not the villain people think I am. But I like the opinions that people have formulated about me. I am glad I'm not a one-trick pony. People were introduced to a calm, elegant and witty Zama. Just when they were least expecting it, I turned, and now I'm happy to see the reaction, and I got people talking.

"That one episode doesn't determine who Zama is. But I'm glad people didn't just get to experience one Zama. All will be back to normal in the coming episodes, though," she said.

The actress said she's been in the industry for a long time, and she can handle bad comments.

“I see celebs are running away from X (previously Twitter) because they say it’s toxic. But I’ve decided to stay. I’m like what harm will it do? People are talking and I’ve surprised them. Whether they appreciate it or not, I cannot be upset by their opinions. They are sharing their own opinions, and I can't fight it," said Zama.

She said her family was concerned about her joining a reality show.

"My family is concerned. And I understand because they are elderly people. They know me as an actor. Now I'm into reality TV. I had to package it in a way they would understand. But because they know the kind of person I am, I don't make rash decisions, and they see that I've clearly thought this through. They also see that I am comfortable," she said.

She said reality TV has been a rollercoaster for her.

"Reality TV will actually test you. It tests your strength, patience and capacity in terms of what you can offer as a human being, but I saw that the industry has evolved. There's a reality show for everything now and I figured why not try something new. What do I have to lose?" Zama said.
