KWAZI Titi, also known as Alter Kay, was inspired by the late AKA to pursue music.
The 21-year-old rapper told the Daily Sun that Kienan "AKA" Forbes was his role model.
He said he grew up listening to his sound and was motivated by him to follow his music career.
Alter Kay from Butterworth in the Eastern Cape said he used to imitate AKA’s style of music and how he did things when he was still alive.
"I was inspired by Kanye West, Eminem, and my cousin. I've always been a music lover, but I just reached a point where I also wanted to express myself through music,” he said.
Alter Kay said he started writing rap songs at the age of 14.
"I then started making music when I was 15 years old. When I was in grade 9, I used to rap for my friends and tell them it was Kanye or AKA's lines because I was not ready to let them know I was a rapper on the low,” he said.

Alter Kay said after realising that his friends liked his rap style, he opened up and told them that those were his lines, and they encouraged him to take music seriously.
In February 2023, the budding rapper released a song titled Encoded along with a music video which dropped in March.
Some of his previous songs include Ready To Love, Where I Belong and The Blues.
Young as he is, Alter Kay has worked with many musicians in Mzansi.
"I've worked with Pro. Vee, Aaron Bates, Josiah, Cobalt Blues, Amina, and Anathi K, among others.
“I enjoyed working with all of them because they have a different approach to music, which helps me tap into other musical realms and discover some things I didn't know I could do,” he said.
On 26 April, Alter Kay will release a new single with Amber Badu, called Back To You.
