OSKIDO wants musicians to own their own masters.
The star recently launched a music distribution platform called Khwale where artists can keep 100% of their royalties.
He said there would be no middleman and the only cost was R300 a year.
The musician, whose real name is Oscar Mdlongwa, shared the good news on his Instagram page on Monday, 9 January.
The 55-year-old told Daily Sun he came up with the idea while doing music workshops. He said he realised young people didn’t have distribution channels.
“When I started in the music business, I had similar problems to those experienced by young African artists today. This platform solves them,” he said.

Oskido said he had been working on the project for two years.
“It’s a purely solution-driven venture that will not only grow the industry by distributing our music at the click of a button but will also empower artists by putting money directly into their pockets,” he said.
Oskido said he would be doing a few workshops around the country to introduce young talent to the platform. He said he believed young musicians would not suffer anymore, thanks to the platform.

“We have done workshops in Joburg and in Ivory Coast. This week, we will be in Gaborone, Botswana,” he said.
His message to young people who looked up to him was to keep the faith in whatever they were doing.
“Keep the faith alive and believe in yourself. Khwale will help you keep 100% of your royalties and 100% of your masters without a middleman. That gives you true empowerment,” he said.
