SINGER and songwriter Asanda “Msaki” Mvana has cancelled her gig in Lesotho to honour late cultural icon, Dr Latozi “Madosini” Mpahleni.
This as she wanted to pay homage to someone she had looked up to and worked closely with.
She was due to perform at Manthabiseng Convention Centre on Saturday, 7 January, with the line-up including artists such as Robot Boii, Nickson, Tamia Phoolo, Katz and Smoot.
On Thursday, Msaki issued a statement on Twitter to let her fans know that she would not be performing as the day was clashing with the funeral of Madosini, who died last week.

The 33-year-old wrote: “Dear friends in Lesotho. I just wanted to let you know that I won’t be able to make it to the festival as it is on the same day as Madosini’s funeral near Libode, Eastern Cape. She was a colleague and an elder I looked up to – who became family to me.”
She added that she had tried her best to make it to the gig, but it was not going to be possible.

“We have explored every possible way to get me to Joburg and Lesotho to the gig on time after the funeral. I have chosen this moment of closure and an opportunity to pay my final respects. We will work together again with the same promoter to see when I can return and make it up to you all. I am sorry, and I will see you soon. Much love.”
Msaki is best known for her hit single Love Colour Spin, alongside award-winning music producer Mobi Dixon.
