White woman "Amelia" shoots her shot on King Misuzulu ka Zwelithini

A WHITE woman known as “Amelia”, from Joburg became a trending topic after shooting her shot at King Misuzulu kaZwelithini on the day of his coronation on Saturday, 20 August.

Approached by a news channel covering the coronation of the king on the day, she said: “I heard the king is going to come here today, maybe he’s looking for a wife. He must just know I am here. I want to be the first white queen of South Africa, the first white Zulu queen.”

This caught a lot of people by surprise and “The first white Zulu queen” started to trend.

In a radio interview that she had on the 5FM breakfast show on Wednesday, she revealed that her real name is actually Avril, not Amelia, and that it was more of a character she was playing on the day.

“Being there with my goal, my aspiration of bringing the rainbow nation to full fruition, it was very eye opening for me,” said Avril.

Daily Sun got hold of Avril and she said: “It’s important to note that this king is so special because he is not just a king but an emperor since King Shaka united nations and created an empire and also that he is royal from both sides, so I had to go there, and of course he won’t come to me, so I thought I should go there myself.”

She said she found the whole experience enlightening and uplifting. It also made her realise that she had a lot to learn.

When asked who the “first white Zulu queen” really is, she jokingly said “I have decided to name her ‘Nokukhanya’, which means the bringer of light, and also because I’m white.”

Explaining the intention of going to the king’s coronation, she said: “Avril is playing this character because there’s a need for a conversation that we aren’t having as a country so, ‘Nokukhanya’ opens up that space for a conversation.”
