REIGNING Miss SA Natasha Joubert has teamed up with MoFaya and musician Robot Boii to launch their new flavour energy drink.

They launched the flavours Berry Queen and Flavatron on Thursday night, 23 November, at Rockets in Bryanston, north of Joburg.

MoFaya is the first proudly black-owned energy drink co-founded by Sbusiso Leope, also known as DJ Sbu and Siphiwe Likhuleni Shongwe, in 2013.

DJ Sbu said business in Mzansi is more challenging than seen on Instagram.

"Entrepreneurship is not as cool as they make it look on the internet. Small businesses are the backbone of any country all over the world. It's important for us to support our entrepreneurs and support and promote the culture of entrepreneurs," he said.

He said it might not be easy for startups to start without funding like they did with Mofaya.

"There's always light at the end of the tunnel if you just throw yourself in the deep end and just start," he said.

He said people who sell Mofaya in the streets are the reason they are where they are today.

"You are learning the skills of how to sell out there in the streets, you are learning how to communicate with people, and let me tell you, most people who were selling Mofaya years ago have grown and gone on to have amazing careers, and they never forget the experience of selling Mofaya and what it has taught them," he said.

Natasha said Mofaya's journey started when she was a finalist for Miss SA.

"In one of the challenges on the show, we had to design a Mofaya can, have a plan of action and I said when I win this challenge and should I be Miss SA, I want my own can," she said.

Robot Boii said he is grateful for the opportunity.

"It's an amazing time to be alive now with such hope and encouragement from the people behind the brand," he said.
