MASKANDI artist Dr Khangelani "DSD" Mhlongo has paid tribute to Prince Mangosuthu Buthelezi.

In 2021, the leader of the multi-award-winning group Osaziwayo, Khangelani from Katlehong in Ekurhuleni, released an album which had a song about uMntwana ka Phindangene titled Imisebenzi ka Shenge

This was inspired by the fact that musicians usually pay tribute to people after they die.

He said: “The song was dedicated for the role he played in Mzansi while he was still alive.

“We wanted to sing about the good he's done in Mzansi. There are hostels, streets, schools and stadiums that are named after him."

He said he created the song to honour him while he was still alive.
