POPULAR DJ Vettys was shot on Monday, 29 January on his way to a gig at Ayepyep Sunnyside (now Top Notch Lifestyle) in Tshwane.
Vettys was The DJ was the best friend of the late DJ Sumbody, who owned Ayepyep.
His management team released a statement on Tuesday, 30 January confirming the news. They also shared that the DJ, whose real name is Seunkie Mokubung, is in a critical condition.
“On Monday, 29 January, DJ Vettys was involved in an unfortunate incident following a shooting in the evening as he was leaving to a gig.
“Thankfully, he survived, but is however in a critical condition and currently receiving treatment at an undisclosed hospital,” read the statement.
They further asked for people to pray for his recovery.

“DJ Vettys' family and management would like to thank everyone who has reached out with concern, and we ask that you continue to pray for his speedy recovery,” they wrote.
According to Vettys' social media, he had a gig at Top Notch Lifestyle, formally known as Ayepyep Sunnyside on Monday, 29 January.
When Sumbody was shot dead in 2022, Vettys spoke at his memorial service and made a touching tribute. He said the Monate Mpolaye hitmaker made him who he is.
“He made me who I am today, and I will forever be grateful and thankful to him,” he said at the time.
