THE family of the slain Oupa John Sefoka, who was known as DJ Sumbody, has secured 50% of Cape Town's Ayepyep Lifestyle Cape Town.

This happens months after a dispute between the family and DJ Sumbody's former business partner, Kagiso Setsetse.

This led to a short closure of the business in Cape Town, but it will now reopen on Friday, 22 September.

"Preserving my brother's legacy has been at the heart of my relentless pursuit for justice. Ayepyep isn't just a venue. It is a living tribute to his passion, creativity and dedication to the vibrant culture of Cape Town’s social scene.

"As Ayepyep Cape Town returns to our family after a lengthy battle, we're inviting patrons to join us in honouring and celebrating my brother's vision and legacy," said family spokesman Keketso Sefoka.

The Monate Moplaye hitmaker was shot and killed in Woodmead, Joburg in 2022.

There were disagreements between the family of the deceased artist and his partner Setsetse.

The family has thanked the patrons and supporters of Ayepyep who stood with them during the difficult times.
