HIS death broke the hearts of his industry people and fans.
It marks a year since DJ and businessman Oupa John Sefoka, popularly known as DJ Sumbody, died.
To date, his killers haven’t been arrested.
The 38-year-old was shot dead by unknown gunmen in Sandton in the early hours of 20 November 2022.
He was best known for his hit songs Ayepyep and Monate Mpolaye, featuring Thebe and Cassper Nyovest.
The Pretoria-born DJ was also a co-owner of the Ayepyep Lifestyle brand alongside his business partner Kagiso Setsetse.
Talking to Daily Sun, his best friend DJ Vetties, real name Austin Mokubung (40), said it felt like yesterday when he heard about Sumbody's death.

DJ Vetties said they had a memorial for his first anniversary on Monday, 20 November.
“It was painful we had a moment of silence for 10 seconds and it was heavy. People came in numbers, but you could see that it was just as hurtful as his funeral."
He said the day brought back bad memories.
“Even his mother called me, and I could hear her on the phone that she wasn't okay because she always tells me that she wants her child,” he said.
DJ Vetties said DJ Sumbody made him who he is today.
He said that he feels like Sumbody is still taking care of him even while he is gone.
“We were doing everything together, especially entertainment,” he said.
“Three months after his death, he sent his angels to me because I started getting gigs and now, I have opened my own pub called Hawayu and it's doing well."
He said that they hadn’t heard anything about the arrest of Sumbody’s killers.
“Last time they said the case is under the cops and they are still investigating."
Gauteng police spokeswoman Colonel Dimakatso Nevhuhulwi said the case is still under investigation, and no suspects have been arrested.
