KZN police commissioner Lieutenant-General Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi has denied the rumours that AKA murder suspects have been arrested.
This is after there were claims that two suspects were bust in connection to the murder of the rapper and his friend in Eswatini.
Mkhwanazi revealed that the suspects who were arrested are related to a separate murder and attempted murder case that occurred in Berea, KZN on 6 March 2023.
In a statement released by the SAPS on Monday, 26 February, Mkhwanazi said he wished to place it on records that the suspects in question will be coming back to South Africa to face their crimes.
Investigation into that particular case pointed to the suspects who were traced and found to be hiding in Eswatini.
Mkhwanazi expressed his gratitude to the authorities in Eswatini for their commitment in eradicating cross-border and transnational crimes that threaten the law and order in neighboring countries.

Furthermore, Mkhwanazi acknowledged the significant public interest surrounding the murder case of AKA and Tibz Motsoane, both locally and internationally.
“He further reiterated the stance of police in KZN that any development in that case will be timeously communicated with the concerned families first and then the public, through the media, will be informed of the developments” statement said.
The statement said the investigation into the matter is at a sensitive stage and the police don't wish to communicate any information that may compromise the investigation process.
“The AKA and Tibs murder case is a complex one and there was and still are tons of evidential information to be analysed and processed. This is a prosecution-led investigation and when the police have tied all the loose ends and covered all the loopholes, an announcement into the investigation and the progress thereof will be communicated,” they said.
AKA and Tibs were gunned down in February 2023 and there are still no official arrests made in their murder case.
