RAPPER AKA's killer is still on the run.

This is according to Police Minister Bheki Cele.

Cele addressed the media in Tshwane on Monday, 19 February, shedding light on the ongoing investigation into the shooting incident that claimed AKA's life in Florida, Durban, KZN, on 10 February 2023.

He said that it's not a question of arresting and taking whoever killed AKA to jail and letting them go again.

Cele explained the complexity of the matter.

"Thorough work needs to be done, of which some ground has been really covered. The getaway car has been found, and the gun has been found. There are people who we know where they are, some of them in custody for other cases," he said.

Cele said the person who pulled the trigger is known and is being chased.

"What we know is that it's a high-profile case. If we grab anyone without proper investigation and we let that person go or the court says we didn't do our work again, it will be a big story," he said.

He said people can continue to bash them as cops, but when the work is done, they would have done a thorough job. He said a lot of ground has been covered.

"The person who killed AKA will be arrested, and the South Africans will be answered when the time comes. We do love that it might be a bit earlier, but that doesn't mean we must do a harsh…harsh work so that we don't finalise a proper outcome," said Cele.

Cele said the case has not been handed over to the Hawks because it's an ordinary case.
