SATURDAY, 10 February marked a year since the brutal murder of hip hop artist Kiernan Forbes, popularly known as AKA.

On the anniversary of his death, Senior Forensic Investigator Calvin Rafadi called for police to charge the suspects whom police apprehended, and are in custody but for other matters.

AKA and his long-time friend and former manager, Tebello ‘Tibz’ Motsoane, were shot dead outside a Durban restaurant.

Rafadi said police have kept the families of the deceased and the country on "half clutch".

"Police don’t know what they are doing. They should charge those in custody for this crime specifically because they may end up being released on technicality as it has happened in the past with other cases," he said.

He said the police claim to have found the gun and car used in committing the crime but it's all useless if they aren't charged. He said cops claim to be hot on the heels of the suspects, but they should rather ask for help from the media and the public.

“They should issue the pictures of those they claim to be on their tail," he said.

Rafadi said suspects may continue to other crimes if police don't act swiftly. He said suspects should be arrested.

“This matter is politicized because they say they have seasoned task team detectives investigating this case.
