KHAYA Mthethwa wears a lot of hats.

However, the singer, producer, songwriter and radio and television presenter has always remained humble.

In this week’s edition of Famous Friday, Khaya opens up about his career and his new album Art of Worship, which was released on 14 October.

“This album is the sound of my thoughts and the sound of my heart,” he said. Speaking about his music career since he won Idols SA 10 years ago, he said: “It has been an incredible journey for me. I am so blessed to have realised my dream. A lot of people have dreams but struggle to make them come true. I am living my dream.”

Khaya said recording his new album was exciting as he got to work with people that had been in his life for many years.

“Vocally, I was produced by Hle Ntombela and everyone from my church is on the record.

“And shout-out to Nozi, who was in the Idols top five, who is also featured.”

When asked what was the current soundtrack of his life, he said Bhekani Uthando, which is track four on his album.

Khaya said he had plans to become a global sensation.

“As the festive season approaches, we will be doing a nationwide tour starting in Joburg. We also have plans to take the album overseas in November,” he said.

“There’s another praise and worship TV show coming, called The Upper Room, which I executive produce.”

When asked for a fact his fans did not know about him, he said: “I am such a crier. I cry about everything.”
