Thomas and Skhumba are going to host separate shows after three years of working together.

RADIO presenters Thomas Msengana and Skhumba Hlophe have separated after three years of hosting shows together.

The dynamic duo was introduced to radio listeners in 2021 as the hosts of Kaya 959’s breakfast show, Thomas and Skhumba in the Morning.

Although people said they were an unlikely duo, they grew to love them together.

However, after 13 months, they were moved from the slot to a late evening show at 10pm with reports that the show wasn't doing well.

In May 2023, the duo moved to host the afternoon drive show to stand in for Sizwe Dhlomo, who was standing in for Dineo Ranaka in the mornings. They have been hosting the afternoon drive show since.

Thomas and Skhumba have been inseparable until now. The station has announced changes for the new radio year.

Skhumba remains on the afternoon drive show, while Thomas is moving to the weekend.

The station announced that radio legend Glen Lewis is joining the station and will host Drive 959 With Glen Lewis on Mondays to Fridays, and Skhumba will stay with him.

“Kaya 959 is excited to announce the addition of music radio giant Glen Lewis to the station line-up. A well-known and much-loved figure, Glen brings a wealth of experience that has seen him build a loyal fanbase over many years. He will pair up with the incredibly talented and popular Skhumba Hlophe on Drive 959 from 3pm to 6pm on weekdays, with Kgomotso Meso, Angie Khumalo and Ayanda Nyathi making up the rest of the team,” said Kaya 959 MD Colleen Louw.

Thomas will be hosting Thomas in The Morning on Saturdays and Sundays.

Sizwe will be permanently moving to the breakfast show with Sol Phenduka.

“From Monday, 15 April, Gauteng will be raring to Siz the World with Sizwe Dhlomo from 6am to 9am on weekday mornings. Sizwe has been holding down the fort in the key morning slot for the last 11 months. Supporting Sizwe on the breakfast show will be Sol Phenduka, Mpho Maboi and Mfundo Mabalane. Siz the World promises to take listeners on a three-hour journey that will entertain, fascinate and inspire from Monday to Friday,” Kaya 959 said.
