THE community of Katlehong, Ekurhuleni, will be dazzled by music and dance this coming weekend.
This as the Cream of Kathorus K1 Festival will be held at the Katlehong Art Centre on Saturday.
One of the founders, dancer Vusi Mdoyi, said the show was a collaborative artist development project designed to serve dedicated artists through a skills exchange, development and talent event.

“We then create one event that will bring together different artists from all faculties,” he said.
“The project is aimed at combining artists from different backgrounds, putting together various practitioners – from internationally established creative artistic directors and choreographers to young talented local artists,” he said.
Vusi said it was inspired by the unrecognised talent roaming the streets of Kathorus (Katlehong, Thokoza and Vosloorus).
“People can expect a colourful event filled with local art heroes who have been travelling the world. We are giving them a touch of authentic Ekurhuleni art and a day to celebrate their own.”
On the day, there will be a three-genre art flagship and development workshop hosted by Oscar Buthelezi (Afro-fusion) , Vuyani Feni (gumboots), Impilo Mapantsula, Sello Modiga and Vusi.
