Gospel singer Puleng March’s nomination in the South African Music Awards (Samas) is a blessing and dream come true.
She was nominated for Best Traditional Faith Music Album for her album Heaven’s Scroll.
The former Joyous Celebration singer told SunBuzz that being acknowledged by the Samas is huge for her.
“Every single time I see the posters and my name, it brings me to tears. To be a woman who is independent under my own label it’s huge, and to get such recognition is a big deal,” said Puleng.
“When you leave Joyous, people automatically think that’s the end of you. But for me, it was clearly the beginning. So, for me to be recognised and acknowledged, it’s huge. I thank God,” she said.
Puleng said she hopes to take the award home.

“But I am excited to be nominated. It feels like a win on its own,” she said.
“As much as we work hard, we don’t work alone. There are people behind us pushing us not to give up and I’m doing this for them as well.
“I hope to do this not just for me, but for my kids and my supporters as well.”
The singer is also nominated for Gospel Artist of The Year at the Basadi in Music, and has four nominations for the Independent National Gospel Music Awards.
I’m truly honoured, grateful and excited,” she said.
Puleng also dropped a new song titled Cry No More, featuring Ncebakazi Msomi and Buhle Thela, two weeks ago.
“The song is dedicated to women and reminding them that they’re strong and can be anything they want to be.”
The song is available on all digital streaming platforms.
