JUB Jub's bail has been extended until December 2023.

This after the TV host and rapper, whose real name is Molemo Maarohanye, briefly appeared in the Joburg Magistrates Court on Wednesday, 8 November.

The 43-year-old presenter and musician faces multiple charges including rape and assault, and his case was postponed to 11 December 2023. This as the state said they needed more time to consult with the witnesses and complainants.

During the court proceedings, the magistrate, Betty Khumalo argued with Jub Jub's representative, Terrence Ntsako Baloyi, that they cannot extend the dates further as this should be their priority.

He was also asked if this was a matter of life and death, but Baloyi said it was about his tour.

Khumalo also raised a concern about the complainants' documents or statements being leaked to the media.

"I'm worried about who leaked them. This is not good at all," she said.

Khumalo said it would be great if the investigating officer was in court.

"If we find that person who leaked the information, we will take legal action against them," she said.

She said this must not be given out as its part of court proceedings.

Gauteng National Prosecuting Authority spokeswoman Phindi Mjonondwane said as the case stands, they are waiting for witnesses to share their statements and share their sides.

"We have time, and we will wait to see what do they have on their side. We also welcomed today’s postponement as it will give us time to look at some of the documents as well,” she said.

Mjonondwane further said the first case against Jub Jub was opened in February 2022, and there were three complaints in this matter.

In July 2023, the Uyajola 99 presenter was released on R10 000 bail and some of his bail conditions included that he should not communicate with the complainants or intimidate them.
