Multi-award-winning choir Joyous Celebration is gearing up to drop its 26th annual album.
But before dropping the album next week, titled Joyous Celebration 26 – Joy, the group will be releasing a single titled Mnini Mandla Onke on Friday, 11 March.
The choir’s musical director Mnqobi Nxumalo spoke to SunBuzz about the song.
“Mnini Mandla Onke is written by one of our choir members, Bongiwe Madela. It speaks about the power of God and proclaims that there’s nothing that can happen without Him,” he said.
“Looking at where we come from, with the pandemic and everything that has been going on, God has really come out strong for us. We’re here because of what He’s done for us today. And that’s what the song is just putting out there.”
He said Joy would be showing off some new sounds from the choir. “People should look out for the innovation of sound.

“Joyous Celebration has always been known for a certain type of sound, and we decided to not be apologetic about the transition.
“There’s a lot of new-age sounds, not leaving behind the traditional sounds and what people really know us for.
“New music, producers and talent are some of the things that people can expect,” said Mnqobi.
Last week, the choir also recorded the DVD for the album, which is set to drop on 1 April.
Said Mnqobi regarding the recording of the DVD: “The recording was amazing and it was one of the best we’ve done in a while. I think it was because of the hunger and the fact that we had not done much in front of people.
“We were looking forward to being in front of an audience.”
He said the group did the best it could.
“This time around, the music had already been done before. We usually do music for the first time at the DVD recording, but this time around we started in studio with the DVD following later.
“People can expect solos from singers such as me, Sne Mncwabe, Bongi Mthombeni and Sbu Mthembu, among others. We also just want to thank our fans and tell them that the project they have been waiting for will be worth the wait,” said Mnqobi.
