FORMER president Jacob Zuma has backed former Ukhozi FM presenter Ngizwe Mchunu.

Zuma was speaking at the Randburg Magistrates Court on Friday, 3 November, following Ngizwe’s victory.

The 81-year-old from Nkandla in KZN said he was grateful that the case was now closed.

"He was charged because of me. We are happy that he's now a free man. Today I saw that the justice system is working better. I am so happy that he is free," Zuma said.

Ngizwe (40) said there are many issues affecting the masses out there. He said this case should have been closed a long time ago.

Ngizwe said there are important issues at hand like kids dying from alleged snack poisoning.

Ngizwe was charged with three counts of inciting public violence during the July 2021 unrest, and he pleaded not guilty to all charges.
