THE finale to crown the Idols winner is in six weeks' time and the battle continues.

The top 6 of season 19 battled it out on stage on Saturday night, 30 September during the live show at Fairlands in Joburg.

On this week’s theme, the contestants showed how it should have been done by performing songs sung by the contestants with the wooden mic during the auditions.

First on stage was Envic, who sang Nathi’s Nomvula.

Next on stage was Faith, who performed Best Part by Daniel Caesar.

Then Niikiey sang Inkanyezi from Mondli, to show how it should have been sung.

Thabo came into the top 6 with a performance of I Wanna Know What Love Is by Foreigner, and he got the audience singing along.

Nkosi followed with Kiss From A Rose by Seal.

Princess was the last to be announced as one of the top 6 contestants. She sang Dangerously in-love by Beyonce and received a standing ovation from the audience.

Judges Somizi, Thembi and JR said Princess had won the first round.

In the second round, the contestants sang songs by Grammy award winners.

Envic sang When a Man Loves a Woman by Michael Bolton.

Somizi said he was an amazing vocalist.

“You are an amazing performer. I look at people like you because it is sad that talent alone does not make you a star. You need a impepho but you deserve to be a superstar,” he said.

Thembi said he added an international flair to the first performance.

JR said he had been worried that he would not be able to sing songs outside the English language, but he proved him wrong.

Envic said he is living his dream of performing on the Idols stage every week.

Faith brought the sexy back with Sexual Healing by Marvin Gaye.

Thembi said she liked the first song. JR said it wasn’t the best, but it was all right.

Somizi said he couldn’t remember the first time he performed and advised him to take off his sunglasses while performing.

Faith said he is doing his best and believes he will make it to the next round.

Niikiey followed with a performance of Knock You Down by Keri Hilson.

JR said the second song was a beautiful performance. Somizi said the first song was beautifully sung.

“You are so chilled. You are destined to succeed but only if you stay true to yourself,” Somizi said.

Thembi said she is a special artist who no one can box.

Niikiey said her participation in the show was a testimony that God answers prayers.

The emotional Thabo performed a rendition of In love With Another Man by Jazmine Sullivan.

Somizi said he made him weak.

“You made me emotionally weak. The reason I am not crying is because I am wearing contact lenses,” he said.

Thembi, who could not hold back her tears, said Thabo was anointed.

“Don’t give up. You have something amazing,” he said.

Nkosi followed with a rendition of All Of Me by John Legend.

Thembi said she felt he could fly but was not doing enough. JR said it was hard to connect because he was thinking too much about his performances.

Somizi said his confidence was at four points out of 10 and he had to look himself in the mirror and say he had a chance to win.

The show closed with Princess singing Falling by Alicia Keys.

JR said she blew the roof off.

“You showed me that there is talent in South Africa that can compete globally,” he said.

Somizi said she was a perfect example of the song Skang Sheba wang nyatsa.

“This beast in you has been unleashed and from now on these beats must not sleep,” he said.

Thembi said everything was on point.

Princess said she enjoyed herself and feels she has redeemed herself.

“I think people love me for who I am,” she said.
