THE road to crowning the final South African Idol draws closer and closer.
This week the singing competition was all about the showstopper theme.
The top 7 Idols SA season 19 gave the best performances of their careers in a spectacular show.
The final showstopper in Idols SA went down in the history books as one of the most outstanding in the 19 seasons of the competition.
With flames, fireworks and sensational choreography on stage at the Mosaiek Teatro, it was the perfect setting for the unveiling of the top 7.
In this order, the following contestants made it through: Envic, Faith, Niikiey, Nkosi, Princess, Thabo and Thando. For Sena, it was unfortunately the end of the Idols SA journey.
In a special twist, Sena still performed her showstopper number despite being eliminated by taking on Rihanna’s Rude Boy.

Earlier, there was a stunning guest appearance by Ntate Stunna and Nthabi, singing Stimela.
Nkosi kicked things off with Usher’s Good Kisser, which was met with mixed reactions from the judges.
Thembi Seete praised his singing but said the performance lacked sparkle.
Next up was Niikiey's turn with Bongo Maffin’s The Way Kungakhona, and she received a standing ovation from the audience and the judges.
Somizi Mhlongo said: “I have often said that you are multi-talented and today you proved it. This is how you do a showstopper, and you deserve a Whoo-shem!"
For his performance, Faith took on Bruno Mars and Mark Ronson’s Uptown Funk. He impressed the judges and JR Bogopa said: “That was not like Bruno Mars at all. That was like James Brown, like Rick James, like Faith. You can take me anywhere. You were brilliant. Week after week you keep delivering.”
Halfway through, it was Thando who performed Usher’s Caught Up, which was met with reluctance from the judges.
“Try to carry your song and your performance more and just be one. You are thinking too much and worrying too much,” said Thembi.
Next up was Princess with Lady Zamar’s Criminal. She received criticism from Thembi and JR, to which Somizi defended her.
Envic performed Beyonce’s Crazy in Love, earning high praise from the judges. Closing the show was Thabo singing Michael Jackson’s The Way You Make Me Feel. He received a standing ovation from the audience and a Whoo-shem! from Somizi.
The showstopper episode was best described by host ProVerb, who said: “Tonight, stars are born, lasting memories are made and history is made.”
So, who lived up to the hype and who fell a little short of expectations? That’s for the viewers to decide with their votes.
