THE family of SuperSport United goalkeeper George Chigova is devastated after his death.

According to the family, they are still in great shock.

George (32) died in Midrand on Wednesday, 15 November.

George's brother Joseph Chigova (49) said the Zimbabwean-born player, who also played for his country's national team' Warriors, was on Instagram at about 10am on Wednesday.

"We are devastated and shocked about his sudden death," he said.

He said his family, wife, and three children were shocked.

"He was fine in the morning, and he spoke to his wife and three children," he said.

When Daily Sun asked Joseph the cause of death, he said let's wait for the postmortem results.

"We were very close with my brother," said Joseph.

George's friend, Godfrey Bakasa, who is Khama Billiat's manager, said everyone is shocked about George's death.

"This is shocking. It happened so suddenly," he said.

He said George was fit and training.

"I last spoke to him on Instagram on Wednesday morning, and he told me he was training," he said.

Bakasa said he was encouraging him to come back to play for the Warriors.

He said George would be missed, and he used to crack jokes.

"I heard from his wife, and also, Billiat called me, telling me about the sad news," said Bakasa.

He said may his soul rest in peace.

SuperSport United released a statement on Wednesday saying: "It is with great sadness that we have learned of the passing of former SuperSport United player Chigova."

The family said they are busy with repatriation processes, but the former SuperSport United goalkeeper will be buried next week at his home town in Chivhu in Mashonaland East, Zimbabwe.
