Former Miss South Africa finalist Luyanda Zuma has landed a new role.

FORMER Miss South Africa finalist, Luyanda Zuma has traded in her heels for netball shoes.

She has bagged her first lead role on Mzansi Magic's new teen series, Obstruction, which follows a young netball player.

Luyanda, who was in the Miss SA top 10 in 2022, stars as Zenokuhle, a 17-year-old high schooler and netball superstar with dreams of making her mark and getting picked to play for the Gauteng netball team. However, she faces struggles in her journey to finally make the team.

She stars alongside Lerato Mokoka, Bukamina Cebekhulu, Nhlanhla Kunene and Thembsie Matu.

Shirley Adonisi, M-Net’s director for local entertainment channels said this series will show issues that teenagers are currently facing.

“This is a story of a lot of young people in our society nowadays – faced with the pressure to succeed, liked by peers, have an emotionally stable family life and also nail it in the relationship department. We hope that stories like this one, that we tell on Mzansi Magic, will not only entertain but also shine a spotlight on pertinent themes that many teenagers deal with daily,” she said.
