WHILE fans of telenovela The River say goodbye to it next month, Mzansi Magic welcomes a new show to replace it.
The channel announced the birth of a new show that will delight South African telenovela lovers.
Champions will premiere on Mzansi Magic on Monday, 5 February.
According to Mzansi Magic, the upcoming show will feature A-list talent such as Sello Maake ka-Ncube, Tumisho Masha and Jo-anne Reyneke, and will introduce the exceptional duo of Rethabile Mohapi and Minkie Malatji.
"In a world where the turf is tough and the stakes are high, Sne Modise, played by Jo-anne Reyneke, is a symbol of resilience and ambition in a male-dominated soccer empire. Battling the storm caused by the sudden changes in her father Washington’s life, Sne Modise is thrown into a series of challenges, love and betrayal.
"As she struggles with the intense drama, Sne stands at the forefront as an outsider, determined to challenge gender norms and lead the Soshanguve Giants F.C. to success. But the question is: can she come out on top in an arena where the rules of the game are constantly changing?" the statement read.
Champions is produced by Tshedza Pictures, the production house behind TV hits such as The River, Outlaws, Adulting and Gqeberha: The Empire.
