FORMER Joyous Celebration member Thobe Masinga’s family is heartbroken about her passing.
The 43-year-old’s family only found out about her death a day after it happened.
According to her sister, Zandi Masinga, she was involved in a car accident on Friday, 10 November, and they struggled to find which hospital she was admitted to.
“She was involved in a car accident on Friday, but I only got the news on Saturday. Her daughter called me around 4pm and told me her mum was involved in a car accident. We unfortunately didn’t know where she was.
“We were able to find the person whom she collided with, and they told us they weren’t in the same hospital," Zandi said.
"We tried searching at another hospital, but she wasn’t there. The other victim was helping us find where she was. His brothers were also searching for my sister. They eventually found the hospital she was in, but they didn't let them in. So, instead, they gave the nurses my number."
She said she was informed that her sister had already died.
“Around 10pm on Saturday, the hospital called me and told me she had died. They didn’t know who she was, so they didn’t call anyone to confirm her body. I then had to confirm her ID number and it was her,” she said.

Thobe was buried on Saturday, 18 November, in Mandeni, KZN, where she was born and raised.
“It was a long process to figure out everything. But we thank God we figured it out. We got assistance. People gave us offerings and helped with the burial,” Zandi said.
She said the family will miss her a lot because she loved them.
“She would call all of us every day. She was very loving and gave out her heart. She bought a car for our parents years ago to make sure they don’t struggle. Some of my sisters went to college because of her. She loved her family and kids. She invested a lot in her family, she said.
Thobe was known as the other Joyous Celebration conductor because she conducted the choir on the ninth edition of the choir’s annual live DVD recordings.
She was still singing and hosted an annual event called the Global Restoration of Women Works.
