COMEDY lovers should brace themselves for non-stop laughter in 2024.
This after Savanna announced the first ever Laugh Africa Comedy Festival which will take place from 5 to 7 April 2024 at the Sandton Convention Centre, north of Joburg.
Talking to Daily Sun about the festival, award-winning comedian, actor, TV producer, director and the festival producer Stuart Taylor said it's going to be the place to be.
He said the festival will feature more than 17 shows, 50 local comedians, one legendary international act and will boast three stages – English, vernacular and Afrikaans.
Stuart said laughter unites South Africans.
“I perform around the globe and there's no other culture that is able to sit in a room and have laughter united at a level that South Africans can,” he said.
He said the laughing culture is an African thing.

“We use that as our secret weapon when it comes to surviving everything that you're going through. It's a beautiful moment when South Africans sit in a room and they all laugh,” said Stuart.
He said there will be various activities during the festival and some of them include a stage of online comedians and funny social media content creators who will be doing their work live on stage.
“It’s easy for people to be funny on an online space, and a lot of them want to move to a live space. We want to bring it and give them the space and let them do what they do online live on stage,” said Stuart.
He said there'll also be a live comedy roast of one of the biggest celebrities in the country.
“Week by week we'll be telling you who will be part of the festival,” he said.
