MULTI-AWARD-WINNING artist Emtee got kicked out of Mike's Kitchen in Parktown, Joburg on Monday, 11 March allegedly because he had tattoos and smelled of weed.
The hip-pop artist from Matatiele in the Eastern Cape, whose real name is Mthembeni Ndevu (32), involved his lawyers Morolong Inc.
The law firm has issued a letter of demand, explaining what had happened and what their client was demanding.
In the letter of demand, it stated that the rapper and his friends were refused entry because they had too many tattoos and were smelling of weed. They were later escorted out of the premises.
The Roll Up hitmaker said in the video he posted on his Instagram page that the white man kicked him and his friends out because they smelled of weed.
“We just got kicked out at Mike's kitchen in Parktown; the one I grew up going to since I was a kid. This white man I do not know, he kicked me out because I smell of weed,” he said in the video.

The rapper said he wouldn't rest until something is done about the restaurant. He further explained that a black man couldn’t express himself as a South African citizen.
“In 2024, we're still facing racism, discrimination, and violation. The whole world doesn't know about this,” he said.
Daily Sun contacted the restaurant to verify the allegations, but we were told the matter was being resolved internally and they didn't have any comment.
The letter of demand stated that if a public apology was not made by Wednesday, 13 March, they would proceed with legal action.
