POET Zamo Cofi almost gave up his career because of exploitation.

Zamo, who has worked with artist such as Heavy-K, the late Ricky Ricky, Black Diamond, Intaba YaseDubai, Musa and Mduduzi, will host a one-man show called Isiphetho (The End) next weekend.

The poet, whose name is Zamokuhle Gwala from Inanda in north of Durban, told Daily Sun that the show will be held at the Bat Centre in Durban on Saturday, 6 May.

Zamo said the aim of the show is talk about how he was exploited in the entertainment industry.

“The show aims to open the eyes of other artists or those who still want to be part of the industry. There is exploitation in the poetry and music industry, and it is painful," he said.

Zamo, who is popular with his phrase Phindubhale Cofi, said that while fans will enjoy the show, artists will learn more about it.

“I will tell everything that happened to me in a poetic way to make the fans happy and at the same time inform the artists about my journey and exploits. The industry is full of exploitation and if we do not put a stop it, a lot of people will quite like I almost did," he said.
