GOSPEL star Dumi Mkokstad has bagged himself five nominations at this year’s Crown Gospel Music Awards.
He’s up for Best Gospel Collaboration, Best Gospel Live Recording, Best Gospel Song Writer, Best Gospel Album for his album, The Overflow Gcwala Kimi and Best Male Artist.
The nominees were announced on Friday, 13 October. And for the first time, it was held in Joburg, where the awards are moving for the next seven years.
Speaking about the nominations, the founder and executive producer of the awards, Zanele Mbokazi-Nkambule said: “Tebs David, 3C live, Jumbo, Dumi Mkokstad, Sbu Noah, Omega, Butho Vuthela, Canaan Nyati are amongst the artists who are nominated in big categories.
"I am excited with the new faces that have made it to the nominees list, a demonstration that the industry is growing. The competition in the big two categories, Best Gospel Artist and Best Gospel song is fierce, and we urge fans to vote.”

The Best Gospel Artist nominees are Omega Kenou, Andile Majola, Canaan Nyathi, Jumbo Nyangiwe and Tebs David.
The Best Gospel Song nominees are Tebs David for Makabongwe, Butho Vuthela for Ethembeni Bambelela, Ntokozo Ngongoma for Izindlela Zakhe, Nathi Sithole for Baba Mlondolozi and Jumbo Nyangiwe for Makabongwe uJesu.
Rofhiwa Manyaga, Jumbo Nyangiwe, Omega Kenou, Xolisa Kwinana, Canaan Nyathi and Dumi Mkokstad are up for Best Gospel Male Artist, while Sindi Ntombela, Londiwe Sphe Nxumalo and Londiwe KaMasondo Cele are nominated for Best Gospel Female Artist.
The nominees for Best Gospel TV Show are Amahubo by Urban Brew, Women With Purpose by One Gospel, Imvuselelo by Dumisa, Hello Mamoruti by Gospel Lifestyle TV, Zion Reloaded by 1KZN and Umthombo by Soweto TV.
