ACTRESS Tinah Mnumzana says the film Dark Beauty tackles issues affecting parents and children.
She said she didn't know she would land a major role in the film but she's grateful for that.
Tinah was speaking at the launch of the film at Maponya Mall's Ster-Kinekor Cinema in Soweto on Saturday, 1 July. She said Dark Beauty will inspire the youth to be positive in life irrespective of their challenges.
"If we don't help people down there, how do we expect the up-and-coming talentsto reach their potential? The film is talking about the youth bullied at school and also facing challenges at home," she said.
Tinah plays the mother of Zobuhle, who is bullied at school and on the other hand, she's dealing with relationship problems after her husband left her for another woman.

"The turning point in the movie is when Zobuhle finds her mother trying to kill herself.
"These are the challenges children are facing in their homes. Through this film, we see two broken people - a mother and her child," she said.
She said Zobuhle showed her character when she changed the situation by participating in the dance competition.
"Despite all the challenges Zobuhle faces at school, she uses her talent to became a better person," Tinah said.
She urged parents to go and watch the movie with their children.
"The youth should use their talent, which can help them to heal. Parents should not harbour anger but go out to seek help," she said.
The film's director, Germain Atabe, said there is darkness in society where children are bullied at school and also face abuse at their homes.
He said young people should not consider drugs to ease their stress.
"We are trying to tell young people no matter what they are going through. There is a gift and talent inside them. They should take advantage of their potential, and they can achieve success in life," she said.
