FILMMAKER and director Teboho Mahlatsi has died at the age of 52.
The talented director from Kroonstad, Free State has worked on some of the biggest productions such as Yizo Yizo, Isibaya, Shaka Ilembe and Back of The Moon. Teboho was a director for production company, The Bomb Shelter.
His family confirmed the news of his passing via a statement and said he passed away on Monday, 3 July.
“It is with the saddest regret that we announce the untimely passing of Filmmaker & Producer - Teboho Moseling Mahlatsi, on the 3rd of July 2023,” the statement read.
They asked for privacy to mourn him and said more details would be released soon.
“In lieu of personal condolences, the family kindly requests prayers and that they be given privacy to mourn and come to terms with the tragic loss.

“Further details will be communicated in due time,” it continued.
Tributes and messages of condolences have started pouring on social media.
Newzroom Afrika founder, Thokozani Nkosi said he worked with Teboho on Yizo Yizo.
“Such devastating news. A young legend has rested. What a talent Teboho was. He directed me on Yizo Yizo over 20 years ago & I personally witnessed his genius. When he announced the Shaka iLembe project a few years ago, I knew a masterpiece was in the works. He may be gone but his work lives on,” he wrote.
Koketso Sefanyetso tweeted: “You have inspired a generation of black storytellers: film, commercials, series. Rest In Peace, The Brother.
