ICONIC musical film Sarafina! is coming to local cinemas in August 2023.
The news was announced by legendary actress Leleti Khumalo on her social media platforms on Thursday, 29 June.
The 1992 film is about a young black South African woman called Sarafina, who is played by Leleti and struggling for freedom during the apartheid era.
While she has remained silent in her opposition of the racist government in her country, the movement to make the language of Afrikaans the official language in her school leads her to protest in the streets with her fellow pupils.
“The classic film, SARAFINA! will be released at cinemas in South Africa on 11 August 2023, paying homage to the remarkable women who shaped the struggle,” Leleti wrote.
