ONE of the world’s biggest actors, Jackie Chan, had fans all over him on Thursday, 8 December, at the Red Sea International Film Festival at the VOX Cinema in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

The star sat down with his fans and attendees of the festival and spoke about his journey through the last 60 years in the film industry.

Jackie has starred in over 300 films such as Rush Hour, Mulan, The Tuxedo, The Medallion and Karate Kid.

He started acting when he was still seven years old, but it was unexpected.

“I wanted to be a bouncer or a bodyguard. It was so cool at the time, but that changed when I made a movie when I was seven. I noticed then that when you’re in a film, you get free food and I grew up poor. So, the food drew me into acting,” he said.

Jackie said it was hard to make a name for himself in Hong Kong and Asia because he was constantly compared to Bruce Lee.

“In the olden days, after Bruce Lee died, they tried to make a lot of movies. In fact, they didn’t care if you could act, as long as you could fight. So when I started, people wanted me to be like him,” he said.

“I had to tell them I’m not Bruce Lee. No one can be Bruce Lee. They would call me the second Bruce Lee, but I didn’t want to be him. So, I thought of how different I could be from him. I decided to do the opposite of whatever he did. I started my own style of fighting and even when I got into Hollywood, I introduced that style. At first, they didn’t like my style. Then I went back home because I wasn’t willing to change. But everyone in Hollywood fights my way now,” he said.

The actor also shared about what he’s working on right now.

“I’m working on a new film called Never Let The Rain Stop. I cannot speak about it much, but it’ll be filmed in two locations, here in Saudi Arabia and the other location is Morocco,” he said.

“I also have so many scripts in my mind. I hope I can finish them in the next 10 years,” he continued.

He also revealed that Rush Hour 4 is in the works.
