CELEB boxing has become increasingly popular in Mzansi.

This month, four well-known celebrities will step into the ring to fight for their lives.

Controversial influencer, Inno Morolong will face off against gender-based violence activist Ashleigh Ogle, while actor Pholoso Mohlala from Skeem Saam will take on professional boxer, Phumlani Njilo.

The fights are set to be hosted by President Cyril Ramaphosa’s son, Tumelo Ramaphosa.

Tumelo said they are promoting the celebrity fights as he has been looking to get involved because he's a martial arts fan.

“I'm a martial arts fanatic, and we have to give people what they want. They might not be excited to see a martial arts fight than I would,” Tumelo said.

He said he sees the event as a way to support the profile of boxing in Africa.

“It has been very successful and right now I just felt it was our turn and a perfect opportunity to partner with international boxing association and create a close relationship with the president and we had a strategy to uplift boxing in Africa and this is our first event,” he said.

Inno said she's excited about the fight but kept her opponent a mystery, for now.  Her focus is on her training regime instead.

“I mean, some people are so disrespectful but for now let’s keep this a mystery. I’m not afraid at all. Instead, I’m excited,” she said.

Although Pholoso lacks professional boxing experience, he said he's eager to participate for the fun of it and hopes to give his opponent a challenge.

“Professionally, I've never been in the ring, but I'm going to win. I think I can. I want to leave someone with a black eye. It’s a game, we're playing and networking,” he said.

Phumlani, who is no stranger to the sport, said he's going to knock Pholoso out.

"He's athletic and can move around the ring but he's not a boxer. I'm going to show people how boxing works by knocking him out," he said.
