SINGING competition Idols SA has announced that season 18 is coming in two weeks’ time on Sunday, 17 July on Mzansi Magic.
After a dramatic few months for the show that let go of two judges, Unathi Nkayi and Randall Abrahams, people are excited to see what the new judges Thembi Seete and JR Bogopa bring to the table.
They made the announcement of the new season on their social media platforms on Monday, 4 July and said they will be singing a new tune.
Thembi, who’s also the leading star on Mzansi Magic’s Gomora, said she wants to hear a few genres from the contestants.
“Two weeks to go before season 18 starts. I don’t have two songs to choose from, but I have two genres, hip hop-soul, if I can hear that and amapiano, that’s going to be fun, but let’s see what we have for season 18 Idols,” she said.

Somizi did not finish the previous season due to allegations that he abused his estranged husband, Mohale Motaung. He was said to have taken time off at the time.
Earlier this year, it was announced that he would return as the judge, joined by Thembi and JR.
Speaking to Daily Sun about his comeback in February, Somizi said he was innocent until proven guilty.
“It was one of the toughest times in my life but we are moving forward. I am innocent until proven guilty,” he said.
“But doing better doesn’t mean that I have to lose myself. I have always been happy about how I live my life and I’m not going to sit and play the victim,” he continued.
