UMHLOBO Wenene FM presenter Bulelani Koyo has died.
The news was shared by Umhlobo Wenene via their Facebook page, as well as people close to him.
He had cancer.
According to a statement shared by his sister and family spokesperson Sivuyisiwe Koyo, he died on Monday, 4 July.
The statement read: “It is with great sadness to announce the passing of Bulelani Koyo, also known as BK
the Maestro. He passed on July, 4th 2022. He passed on in the presence of his family, surrounded by love.
We ask that the public give the family the privacy to grieve. Further communication will be communicated in due time.We thank you for all your support and love. We have truly witnessed the warmth and love.”

Umhlobo Wenene FM wrote: “Condolences to #UWFMBEE. Our heart goes to Bulelani Koyo, lala ngoxolo, Jwara! May his soul rest in peace.”
Social media has been abuzz with messages of condolences.
His colleague Mafa Bavuma wrote: “Umhlobo Wenene
FM BEE salutes Bulelani Koyo music. Lala ngoxolo, Jwara.”
His friend Ntethelelo Faku wrote: “Bulelani Koyo, goodnight my brother. I was driving from Cape Town to Lusikisiki, on my way passing PE. Koyo said to me I must sleep in PE because I have been driving a long distance. He booked a hotel for me because he felt the drive was too long.
“We went to the SABC the following day before I left. My brother had a good heart. Strength to our producer, Mr Hlekani Qina Jola #RIP_BULELANI_KOYO,” he said.
Last month there were attempts to raise funds for his treatment.
At that time, Daily Sun reported that he needed R30 000 per month for his treatment and his colleagues tried to raise funds for him.
On Sunday, his family, colleagues and friends held a benefit concert for him.
