COMEDIANS, Sphiwe and Simphiwe Vilakazi, have accused the people of Eastern Cape of tribalism.
The twins, who are popularly known as Amawele aseChesterville, took to Facebook and claimed they always receive complaints from Zulu-speaking people who live in the Eastern Cape.
They wrote: “This message is for Eastern Cape people, can you please stop ill-treating people who are not from your province. We’re tired of getting these bad messages about you.”
But their fans were not impressed with the post. They corrected them and said tribalism is rife in all provinces, especially in KZN. Their fans also advised them to stay away from such topics.
Siphumelele Mkhize wrote: “I suggest that you stick to comedy, this topic is deeper than your level of intelligence.”
Zezelihle Zweni said: “As a public figure don't use your platform to point fingers at certain tribes. Speak generally and try to fix the nation as a whole because no tribe is innocent in their own province. I beg, please.”
Amos Madiba reprimanded the comedians and said: “This is a very sensitive issue. I wish you could've chosen a better way of putting it because even this post feels like an attack directed to us.”

Lihle Mbambalala explained how she has been treated in KZN. She wrote: “I’ve been here for 27 years. I was 10 years old when we came here. I suffered from depression at a young age because I was made a laughing stock at school. Because of my language I was bullied. I established myself here. Jealousy is the currency here. Tribalism is a norm too.”
Zingisa Nomafusi said: “It's funny that this is only directed to one tribe but in KZN it has been happening for years where amaXhosa and amaMpondo have been enduring the same tribalism from amaZulu. Even here in Gauteng if you are from the Xhosa tribe they will treat you bad. We as people, we have a task of reprimanding each other not point fingers at each other.”
When Daily Sun approached Simphiwe for comment, he stood by his post.
"I wrote it based on our experience. We always get complaints from our Zulu brothers who live in the Eastern Cape. The purpose of the post was to reprimand amaXhosa to treat our fellow brothers right. As comedians we have the right to applaud or discourage certain acts,” he said.
