WELL-KNOWN comedian Stopnonsos has scored a reality show despite his ongoing assault case.

The comedian and actor, whose real name is Tumi Matila (31), has been announced as the host of Mzansi Wethu’s newest reality show called Mastende.

Stopnonsos was arrested by the Honeydew police on Tuesday, 7 August. This after he allegedly assaulted and pointed a firearm at his girlfriend, Thando Ngemane and her friend, Tsholofelo Kgosimotho.

His case has been ongoing and was recently postponed after the death of an investigating officer. It was postponed to to 3 November, the same day the show premieres on Mzansi Wethu at 6.30pm.

The presenter will be digging into the fights between landlords and their tenants.

When pressed for questions about Stopnonsos' ongoing case, Shirley Adonisi, director of local entertainment channels at M-Net, told Daily Sun: "The channel is aware of this, and we are letting the law take its course since he hasn't been convicted of a crime."

According to the channel, the comedian was selected through an audition process.

The show is produced by Tribal Media House and aims to mirror people's everyday lives, presenting real stories, real confrontations and real solutions.

"As a channel, we are excited and hope it will be well-received by our audiences, and we're happy with everything so far. This show also allows viewers an opportunity to learn about the law behind tenant or landlord relationships," said Adonisi.

She said audiences can expect some heated interactions between landlords and tenants, as well as constructive legal solutions to the problems for both parties.

Adonisi said with Mastende, they were not just tapping into compelling stories, but also creating a bridge of understanding.

"It’s interesting, it’s real, and it’s reflective of our very own communities. Trust us, you won't want to miss out on this emotional account of rental relationships," Adonisi said.
