Tumi 'Stopnonsons' Matila was arrested on Tuesday, 7 August.

COMEDIAN Tumi "Stopnonsons" Matila is free on bail.

This comes after Stopnonsons appeared briefly in the Magistrates Court in Randburg on Friday, 11 August.

The 31-year-old comedian and actor was released on R2 000 bail and is expected to appear again on Wednesday, 13 September.

The state prosecutor said he was released because both complaints did not oppose his bail.

The Joburg-based comedian was arrested at the Honeydew Police Station on Tuesday, 7 August.

The comedian allegedly assaulted his girlfriend Thando Ngemane and her friend.

The state released him on the following conditions: not to be in contact with the complainants or communicate with them. He must also not reach out to them via social media platforms or harass them in any form.

Stopnonsons must not be seen around his girlfriend's place or workplace. He was also told not to interfere or intimidate them in any way.

They said if he is found to have broken these rules, he will be taken back to jail and his bail conditions will be revoked again as he did not comply with the law.

He was also served with a protection order from both the complainants his girlfriend Thando and her friend.
