FORMER Miss South Africa and businesswoman Bokang Montjane-Tshabalala continues to use her influence to bring change to the country.

The Joburg-based beauty queen has set the standard high with her initiative called I Am Woman.

“I Am Woman is a platform I created with the purpose to empower women in every aspect possible. The platform is a space of reflecting, healing and nurturing growth at personal and professional levels in women’s lives through seminars that are held annually,” she said.

Bokang said this movement plans to help women reach their fullest potential and achieve their best by identifying the challenges they face.

She said this initiative provides them with relevant solutions through experts who have walked the same relatable journey.

“The I Am Woman movement focuses on uplifting and celebrating a pool of diverse and remarkable women. It aims to harness and preserve female worthiness,” she said.

Bokang said they will be hosting a seminar on 25 February.

“People must check out my Instagram page @bokang_m and see info for purchasing a ticket and details on Mrs. Universe Africa,” she said.

Bokang said there is more coming from her and her team.

“After my reign as Miss South Africa, I decided to open my own foundation called the Bokang Montjane Foundation to do all my charity and advocacy work under one umbrella. We do youth camps for disadvantaged rural and township girls,” she said.

Bokang said they want to continue doing annual campaigns where they go to schools in kasis and rural areas to motivate the youth and to dare them to dream big.

“We do sanitary towel drives in all nine provinces. We are all about changing the lives of many Africans,” she said.

She said so far, the response to their initiatives has been extremely positive.

“Communities have always welcomed us with open arms because we are genuine about the work we do,” Bokang said.

Her message to young people who look up to her is that they must never stop learning and believing in themselves.

“Always dream big and believe in yourself but remember to work hard and push. Keep trying irrespective of how much rejection you receive. Always get up and try again. Remain resilient and fight for your dream,” Bokang said.
