WHEN he got into the music industry in 2015, he noticed that it has its own rules.
And now he wishes he knew what he was getting himself into.
Multifaceted rapper, producer, singer and songwriter, Bigstar Johnson, told Daily Sun he recently released a song Fede Sho that is aimed to reassure people.
He said that the song is saying that the game has its rules, but they have something to offer.
The 31-year-old, whose real name is Tumelo Rankumako, gained popularity after winning Vuzu’s The Hustle in 2015.
He said he realised creativity and talent are not enough in the industry.
“It's really about connections and affiliations. The other thing is that the platforms are there, but they're not necessarily there for you to live off of. You have to be creative financially as well as artistically to make your dream come alive,” he said.

He said the change in the market can also be problematic.
“People are constantly consuming art at such a quick rate. My song says regardless of all these challenges, I'm going to do it anyway,” he said.
He said his biggest regret before getting into the industry was only focusing on the talent.
“I never really put myself out there. I've won a competition and then I was in the industry, but I didn’t necessarily have any industry background, so I was learning as I go,” he said.
He said musicians should invest outside their talents.
He said he will be releasing another single on Friday.
“My single is called Campaign, and it features Yanga Chief. It is a campaign for being real. If you are a real person doing your thing and going through struggles and successes, fighting through tribulations, and winning at the end of it. This is a campaign to say, your story is everyone’s story, be proud of being real,” he said.
