THE author's case hits six years in court!
It's been six years since former Miss SA Basetsana and her husband Romeo Kumalo opened a crimen injuria case against Jackie Phamotse over comments she made on Twitter about them in 2018.
The popular author and motivational speaker Jackie was supposed to hear about her judgment on Tuesday, 5 December in the Randburg Magistrate Court. The 34-year-old Joburg-based writer and social activist made a brief appearance, and her case was postponed until 6 February 2024. The author has asked for probation not to be arrested.
On Thursday, 17 November, her matter was postponed to Tuesday, 5 December and the reason given for the adjournment was that they're still waiting for the report from her social worker. During her appearance on Tuesday, 5 December, her case was postponed again as her legal team haven't submitted her documents and they need weeks to assessed.
Jackie was supposed to be sentenced on Tuesday, 14 November. On Tuesday 24 October, she was told at her appearance that she still had until 17 November to meet her bail conditions.

The state prosecutor said she was not allowed to meet or be in contact with the complainants. She was also told not to intimidate anyone as she will get arrested, or they can call the police officers on her.
On Wednesday, 19 September Jackie was found guilty in her defamation case against TV star Basetsana and her husband, Romeo. She was charged with two counts of crimen injuria, one count of criminal defamation and one count of contempt of court.
In August, state prosecutor Yusuf Baba said the constitutional right to dignity and privacy of Basetsana were infringed when Jackie allegedly tweeted in 2018 that there was a sex video involving the TV mogul and her husband with a celebrity boy.
The author was also ordered to remove all the statements on her social media platforms about the TV star. She was told if she didn't do that, she'd be bridging her bail conditions.
Jackie was also told to comply with these orders and if she didn't, she'd be arrested again.
Basetsana and her hubby Romeo were not in court on Tuesday during her appearance.
