FOR comedians, there's a fine line between humour and controversy.
While some people believe comedians are insensitive, this one believes nothing is off limits in comedy.
Speaking to the media at the San Deck Hotel in Sandton, north of Joburg on Saturday, 6 April, Eddie Griffin said comedians should joke about anything and everything.
The internationally acclaimed funnyman will open the Savanna and Showmax Laugh Africa Comedy Festival at the Sandton Convention Centre on Saturday and Sunday.
Eddie, known from his hit sitcom Malcolm and Eddie, is known for his electrifying stage presence and unique style.
With a career that includes numerous stand-up specials and more than 50 film appearances, Eddie's participation is a testament to the importance of the festival.
He said he doesn’t dictate what he talks about on stage.

"Controversial topics are only in people’s heads and if I play these things in my head, I scare myself. There's nothing in comedy that's off limits,” Eddie said.
He described comedy as therapy.
"You know the old saying, laughter is the best medicine. Every time you smile and blush, you're promoting health. So, I'm a doctor and am going to bless you tonight."
Eddie doesn’t allow himself to stress over anything in life.
"It's my mind, so no two minds can live in it," he said.
He said he's dedicated to the world of comedy.
"I was born to it. If your dream, when you wake up in the morning, and the same dream you dreamt before you went to sleep is still there, then that’s your purpose. I live in my purpose. I don’t have a plan B."
