KAIRO Forbes has made her family proud after bagging her first award.
The celebrity child star, who's the daughter of the late Kiernan "AKA" Forbes and DJ Zinhle, was named the Social Media Kid Influencer of The Year at the third annual South African Social Media Awards (Sasma) on Sunday, 29 October.
“We did it, Glammy,” said Kairo, who attended the awards ceremony with her gogo, inspirational speaker, Lynn Forbes.
“Thank you to mum, dad and my family for all your love and support, and to everyone who voted for me, especially The Megacy. Thank you to the South African Social Media Awards and Canon SA for honouring me with this award,” she said.
At just eight years old, Kairo has more than 1,4 million followers on Instagram - having secured a verified badge before her fourth birthday.

The young mogul in the making has her own watch brand and jewellery line.
Kairo follows in the footsteps of giants as her dad AKA, who was shot dead outside a restaurant in Durban on 10 February 2023, won multiple South African awards. He was nominated several times for a Black Entertainment Television Award in the US and was once nominated for an MTV Europe Music Award.
DJ Zinhle has been named one of the 21 most powerful African women by Oprah magazine and she was Glamour magazine's Woman of the Year in 2015, among many other achievements.
Sisma said the “Social Media Kid Influencer of The Year” category was established to acknowledge the rising influence of young content creators and recognise the positive impact they have on their audiences.
“This accolade is dedicated to the young, dynamic influencers under the age of 18 who have been relentlessly shaping their presence on social media platforms,” expressed Sasma online.
