In a video already circulating on social media, he said the government rushed to bury Mampintsha but didn't do the same for AKA, allegedly blaming racism.
Mampintsha died in December 2022 as a result of a stroke and AKA died in February 2023 after being shot dead in Durban, KZN.
On the artists’ funerals, McKenzie said the reason they only helped Mampintsha was because he was black.
"There's is a guy called Mampintsha, you must know him. His wife's name is Babes Wodumo, he was an artist in Big Nuz. When he died, the government jumped up like popcorn to bury him and they rightly said many people are going to come to the funeral, it will be a burden on the family.

"When another guy died, AKA, the government didn't jump but they refused to help the family. The difference between AKA and Mampintsha is this one is coloured and this one is black. And they always help the black and they never help the coloureds,” he said.
While this upset many people on social media, it also upset Babes Wodumo.
In her response to McKenzie, Babes Wodumo said he should not use Mampintsha to campaign for votes.“They'll talk about you even when you're no longer around, my love, because they want to achieve their goals. It hurts, I don’t want to lie, but I will endure. Mampintsha is not a name you can use to campaign for votes,” she said.
But the backlash from people and Babes did not affect McKenzie. Instead, he said he was glad he had started a conversation.
"I hate racism. Coloured people are subjected to the worst racism in all aspects of South African life, and I'm glad you are uncomfortable with that. Did you know that coloured wardens had to apply to the courts for them to be considered for promotion at work?"
Mampintsha died on 26 December 2022, and the KZN government offered to cover half of the costs for the funeral.
