TOP Mzansi actress Nomzamo Mbatha has encouraged young business entrepreneurs to chase their goals despite the challenges.
She spoke at the Top 16 Youth-Owned Brands Awards (YOBA) held at the Sandton Convention Centre in Jozi on Thursday, 15 June.
“Ask yourself what the pivot for you in your entrepreneur journey is. What is your dropping out of and dropping into because the worst place you can ever be in Is the middle,” she said.
Her words of wisdom tied with the YOBA's mandate to accelerate youth economic emancipation for a sustainable future.
The top 16 youth-owned brands were voted for from a pool of 64 nominees who make a significant impact in their respective industries.
Among many who walked away with awards was The Lazy Makoti for the top food brand, Bathu for the top footwear brand and Legends Barber as the Overall Top Brand, representing the epitome of excellence in the youth-owned brand landscape.

"It's an honour to be recognised as the overall top brand and to be among such exceptional young entrepreneurs. We believe in our mission to provide the best grooming experience while positively impacting our community. This award motivates us to continue pushing boundaries and creating a legacy," said the founder of Legends Barber, Sheldon Tatchell.
Although some walked out of the room without awards, Nomzamo assured them that the moment was not a waste.
The CEO and founder of the Top 16 YOBA, Pat Mahlangu, said he was thrilled to acknowledge the remarkable achievements of these outstanding youth-owned brands and their accomplishments.
Pat said this served as a testament to their entrepreneurial spirit and ability to create innovative solutions that make a positive difference.
