ACTRESS Ayanda Sibisi is using her music to give thanks to God.
The album titled Ode To God was released in July and the actress spoke to Daily Sun about it.
Ayanda (37) from KwaNdengezi in Durban, KZN said her journey with gospel music started in 2012 after she joined The Lion King.
“In 2012, I got to go to Hong Kong for The Lion King. I feel like it’s a rite of passage for every black actor to go through. Anyway, I got saved when I was in Hong Kong and things turned around for me - my love of God and singing gospel.
“Ode To God was inspired by the word of God. There was a time that I took to myself to think about who He is to me, His work, the Bible, the things he says to me and about me. I thought to talk about what’s happening in the Bible and bring it back to his people. I was inspired by his words. So, it was very healing and reassuring for me to write for the album," Ayanda said.

She’s also starred in South Africa productions such as The Queen, Rockville and 7de Laan.
“I got my diploma in drama and TV production at the Durban University of Technology. Growing up, I was a very playful child. I had a big imagination. Plus, we watched a lot of TV and there was very interesting content then, so that’s where my love for drama comes from. I feel like it broadened my mind. That’s where everything started for me,” he said.
“I thought maybe I can do this in real life. So, hence I studied it,” she said.
The 13 Weeks To Find Mr Right actress said she’s got a busy few months ahead.
“I’m about to officially launch the album, so people will get to experience the music live. I’m excited about that because then people will get to hear it live. I've also just finished wrapping a movie that’s coming out soon,” she said.
