IT'S alleged that DJ Peter "Mashata" Mabuse was shot dead in the early hours of Sunday, 21 April, in Soshanguve, Tshwane.

The motive for the shooting is still unclear, but police have confirmed the fatal incident.

Police spokeswoman Colonel Noxolo Kweza confirmed the incident.

"Tshwane police have opened a case for murder and attempted murder following a shooting involving two men aged 46 and 45 in the early hours of today.

"One victim died in hospital while the other was injured.The two victims were travelling near the TUT in Soshanguve when shots were fired at their vehicle," she said.

According to Kweza, the suspect or suspects have fled and police are pursuing several leads.

"Gauteng police are appealing to anyone with information to come forward or call anonymously on 08600 10111. All information will be treated confidentially," she said
