THE family members of the murdered Sandra Mabaso (44), who was stabbed and her house allegedly set alight by her boyfriend, say they're not ready to forgive.

Sandra died at the scene, while her six-year-old son, who was with her in the house during the incident, succumbed to his injuries in the hospital.

Speaking with Daily Sun outside the Protea Magistrates Court, her sister Adelaide Mabaso said the wound cuts deep, and all they want is for the perpetrator to pay for what he has done.

“The case was remanded for 6 May. The perpetrator showed no remorse. He looked at us and kept on smiling as if he did nothing wrong. We will be very happy if the case doesn’t get remanded anymore. I don’t understand why we must waste our time with all these remands. He's not even remorseful,” she said.

She said they fear the accused might come back for them should he be given bail.

“We don’t know why he killed my sister and his son. He doesn’t deserve bail. Maybe as time goes on, we will forgive him. But for now, this has opened wounds for the family. I'm not God, after all,” she said.

Sandra's friend said the accused needs to rot in jail for life.

“He should be locked up, and the keys thrown away. He has taken so much from us. He killed my friend and her little son, our leader for tomorrow,” she said.

This comes after Lerato Sefekedi (45), who is accused of killing his baby mama Sandra in August 2022, made his second appearance in the Protea Magistrate Court on Friday, 19 April.

He's facing two counts of murder. The case was postponed to 6 May for a formal bail application.

Sefekedi has been on the run since 2022 and was arrested last Friday in Thembisa, Ekurhulei. He allegedly stabbed his baby mama before setting her house on fire in Protea Glen, Soweto.
